Juventus have sacked manager Igor Tudor after an eight-game winless run across all competitions.
The Croatian’s final match in charge was Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Lazio, which left Juventus eighth in Serie A and without a goal in their last four matches.
His departure also brings an end to the tenure of his backroom team – Ivan Javorcic, Tomislav Rogic and Riccardo Ragnacci.
Tudor was appointed in March to replace Thiago Motta, guiding Juventus to a fourth-place finish and a return to the Champions League.
That strong end to last season convinced general manager Damien Comolli to keep faith with him for the current campaign.
However, a promising start of three consecutive league victories quickly unravelled into five draws and three defeats, including a damaging loss to Como and a Champions League setback against Real Madrid.
Massimo Brambilla, who currently manages Juventus Next Gen in Serie C, will step in as interim boss for Wednesday’s league fixture against Udinese at the Allianz Stadium.
Tudor’s exit marks another abrupt change in direction for Juventus, whose stability has been in question since Andrea Agnelli left as president in 2022.
His sacking is also the earliest Juventus have made a managerial change in a season since 1969, underlining the severity of the crisis.
Despite a squad containing several international players, the team has looked short of confidence and creativity, particularly in the attacking third.
Juventus will now look to stabilise before making a permanent appointment. Luciano Spalletti is among those under consideration.
As Juventus prepare to face Udinese, the immediate task for Brambilla will be to restore confidence in a squad that has forgotten how to win.
The broader challenge for the club remains the same – rediscovering the consistency, direction and authority that once defined the Juventus name.
