Juventus have a lofty target to replace Dusan Vlahovic, with whom the extension talks have derailed: Victor Osimhen, who’s on loan at Galatasaray waiting for a permanent departure, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
The Bianconeri’s chase is very challenging but not impossible. The marksman’s €75M release isn’t valid for Italian teams. They’ll have to negotiate with Napoli, unlike when they signed Gonzalo Higuain a few years back. The Azzurri would rather send him abroad. The will of the player will be decisive. Director Cristiano Giuntoli brought him to Italy and maintained a strong relationship with his entourage.
Juventus could have a leg up over the competition despite the rich demands by Osimhen. He moved to Serie A benefitting from the ‘Decreto Crescita’ which, despite having been eliminated for newcomers, can still be utilized for extensions even though the player technically switches sides. Napoli and Roma used it from Romelu Lukaku, prolonging the savings that first originated from his return to Inter.
The measure drastically reduces the taxes. The Old Lady would pay €13M gross annually on his €10M wages, not €20M. It’d be the same disbursement as a more standard €6.5M net salary. They’d have to add him quickly though. He has to spend at least 183 days in the Peninsula to have access to the instrument in 2025.
It doesn’t hurt to try, but it could happen only if he gives Napoli an ultimatum about the destination, his team becomes desperate to offload him, and if he’s somehow less expensive than Randal Kolo Muani. It doesn’t sound very likely.
