Juventus turn down chance to sign Palermo man for free

Since Manuel Locatelli has been injured, Juventus have been offered several midfielders to add to their squad, but the Bianconeri have shown little interest in most of them.

Many of these players are free agents, understandably so because the transfer window has closed and Juve are facing an emergency. The men in black and white were therefore expected to consider free agents as a possible solution to their midfield shortage.

Juventus reject Mazzitelli offer

However, the Bianconeri have not taken that route so far, and one free agent they were offered in the last few days was Luca Mazzitelli, according to Calciomercato.

His contract at Como was terminated by mutual consent, leaving the midfielder as a free agent for several days. He was subsequently offered to Juve, who know what he can do after he performed well against them last season while on loan at Cagliari.

The report says Juve rejected the offer, which opened the door for Mazzitelli to move to Palermo in Serie B. The Bianconeri have still not considered signing any of the available free agents, despite the situation created by Locatelli’s injury.

Juventus consider internal solution

Although Juventus will hope that no other midfielder is sidelined before another player returns to fitness, the club appear to have another solution in mind. Rather than investing in an experienced free agent, they could look within their own squad for an alternative.

The report says the Bianconeri believe they can promote a talent from their Next Gen team if another midfielder is needed. This would allow them to address the shortage without bringing in an experienced player who is currently available on a free transfer.

For now, Juventus appear prepared to trust their existing options and young players rather than make a move for a free agent. Mazzitelli was one opportunity available to them, but the club decided against pursuing the midfielder, leaving the door open for his move to Palermo.
