Kai Havertz has given Arsenal the lead against the newly promoted Coventry City, scoring the first goal of the new Premier League season.
New signing Christos Tzolis did excellent work in the buildup, piling pressure on the Coventry defender and stealing the ball which deflects on towards Riccardo Calafiori who puts in a low cross inside the box where an arriving Havertz strikes it first time, side footing it into the back of the net.

Calafiori’s immediate impact with an assist on opening day underscores why the Italian defender is widely expected to enjoy a standout 2026/27 campaign for Arsenal.
Settling into his role at left-back, the 24-year-old offers a unique tactical dimension to Arteta’s setup.
He produced a solid performance against Manchester City in the Community Shield win as well, scoring a brilliant goal to set the tone for Mikel Arteta’s side.
His vision, passing range, and ability to overlap effectively make him a dangerous weapon in transition.
Beyond his attacking contribution against Coventry, Calafiori’s physical presence and defensive versatility allow Arsenal to transition smoothly into a three-man backline during phases of possession.
After an adapting period last season, the Italian international appears fully attuned to the demands of Premier League football and looks set to solidify his place as a starter for the Gunners.
