Kaio César heads into Corinthians’ Copa Libertadores quarter-final second leg against Estudiantes of Argentina encouraged by his first-leg equaliser and convinced the home crowd can make a difference.
"I was very happy to help the team with a goal. I believe that goal will give us more confidence for the second leg. If we had come back at 1-0 to them it would have been very difficult. Now, with this goal, we need to manage the game, to know when to attack and when to defend. It will be very balanced, but we will go in search of going through." He told Corinthians TV.
The 22-year-old ended an 11-match goal drought at the Jorge Luis Hirschi, levelling in La Plata, and added an assist on Sunday despite defeat to Flamengo in the Brasileirão.
Back at Neo Química Arena, Corinthians can clinch a semi-final place with the Fiel expected in force, with a temporary capacity increase raising hopes of a record attendance. He also underlined the fans’ role: "The Fiel are certainly our 12th player. They are the ones who support us, make us run for 90 minutes and not give up. With the Fiel behind us, we certainly have a greater chance of going through."
Kick-off is 21:30, another draw would take the tie to penalties.
The winners will face Flamengo or Ecuador’s Independiente del Valle, who meet on Thursday.
