Kaio César has made himself available for Corinthians’ visit to Flamengo in the Brasileirão, despite a quick turnaround from continental duty.
According to Meu Timao, the player spoke in La Plata after the first leg of the Libertadores quarter-final. Corinthians drew 1-1 with Estudiantes in Argentina.
He said the game was tense and recovery time is short, but he believes the squad feel fine. He added the decision rests with Fernando Diniz, and if asked to play they will do so, with the aim of helping Corinthians regardless of the competition.
The fixture at the Maracanã is on Sunday at 17:30 in round 27. Diniz must decide whether to stick with his core starters or rest some players.
Corinthians’ league form is fragile, with four straight defeats to Chapecoense, Santos, Coritiba and Cruzeiro. They sit 12th on 32 points, seven clear of the relegation zone.
The return leg is on Wednesday the 16th at 21:30 at the Neo Química Arena. The winners reach the semi-final, while another draw would take the tie to penalties.
