Karim Adeyemi makes Barcelona admission after strong start: ‘I think I can always give more’

The German winger Karim Adeyemi was one of the players FC Barcelona brought to their team during the last summer transfer window. The German joined the Catalan club from Borussia Dortmund in exchange for €22 million fixed and another €7 million agreed in variables.

With the way he has started life at the Blaugrana club, he is already seeming to be quite a bargain, especially in this inflated market. Despite not being a regular starter, he has already scored three goals and provided two assists in eight appearances so far.

These performances have also helped the forward make his way back into the German national team. He is currently training under Jurgen Klopp with his national side, and after his side’s game against the Netherlands, he appeared in an interview with Diario AS, during which he talked about different aspects of his move to Barcelona.

Adeyemi was clear that he is still adapting to his new surroundings:

“I think it’s difficult to say. I feel very, very good, but as for everything being settled… I don’t think we’re at that point yet. I’m not completely settled here yet. Now I have to learn the language, which is important to me. And, of course, it’s difficult to settle in 100% in one or two months, but I feel really good and I can’t wait to spend much more time here.”

The German forward also opened up about how he is living his life in Barcelona and how he spends his time:

“I went to the beach, to the sea, and went swimming. I think that was the nicest thing for me. I still do it from time to time. It’s the best option: enjoying the good weather. Although I also like staying at home.”

The former Dortmund winger expressed his happiness on being at the Catalan club, and highlighted the fans’ support:

“Of course. I have a job here, and I’m really happy and honoured to be at this club. The people and the fans can see that. I’m not someone who tries to impress anyone in a fake way; I do my thing, I’m authentic and always honest. I always try to give my best to win trophies. The love from the fans is incredible.”

Going forward, Adeyemi was looking only to help the team:

“I think I can always give more. But I’m happy with every minute I play, every goal I score and every victory we achieve. If I can help the team, even better. We want to win everything.”

The German forward was also looking to keep Hansi Flick happy:

“If he is happy, then I’m happy (laughs). I hope he is. I’ve had a good start, but I always work every day to improve and contribute more to the team.”

There is no doubt that Karim Adeyemi has had a very good start to life at Barcelona. Hopefully, he will be able to keep up this good early form, and prove to be a reliable option for Hansi Flick as the season progresses.
