According to Sky Germany, Loris Karius and Schalke are in advanced talks over an early contract extension.
Karius is under contract until 2027, but both player and club are pushing to extend ahead of schedule.
The proposed deal is expected to run until at least 2028, and the goalkeeper’s salary would be adjusted as part of the terms.
If signed, the extension would make Karius one of the highest earners at the Gelsenkirchen side.
The 31-year-old has made his preference clear. He is prepared to turn down interest from Italy to remain with Schalke in the Bundesliga.
Both parties are working on the final details, and a swift agreement is considered likely. The deal should be completed soon.
