FC Bayern produced a furious comeback against SC Freiburg, but Lennart Karl’s strong performance was overshadowed by a scene that briefly caused concern. The youngster gave an update after the game.

The 17-year-old Karl had to leave the pitch with a knock after a tackle in the second half. The attacking player initially reported pain and was then escorted directly to the catacombs. However, his subsequent reappearance on the bench brought some initial relief.

After the game, the youngster himself commented on the situation and explained: „I took a knock in training yesterday, but everything is fine.“ He dispelled speculation about a more serious injury. Sporting director Max Eberl also cautiously gave the all-clear after the game and spoke of „nothing serious“.

Karl had already set the tone in the first half with his goal to make it 1-2 and an assist for the equalizer. The 17-year-old became the youngest Bayern player in Bundesliga history to contribute both a goal and an assist in the same match. The attacker remained a constant asset until his substitution, keeping the Freiburg defence busy throughout with his dribbling and drive towards goal.

Karl: „I trust myself on the pitch“

Despite the early deficit, Karl was satisfied after the game: „It was a difficult start with the two goals we conceded, but we knew we were very good offensively and turned the game around, so in the end it’s all good.“ His performance once again underlined why he is considered a great hope in the Bayern squad. „I trust myself on the pitch, I’m not afraid of opponents and I just try to play my game.“

Bayern had impressively turned the game around after trailing 2-0 and ultimately won 6-2. Even after Karl’s substitution, the offense maintained its momentum – new signing Nicolas Jackson and Michael Olise provided further highlights in a game that had initially gone anything but to plan for Munich.
