Karouani unveiled by Benfica after loan move from Al-Qadisiyah | OneFootball

According to Glorioso 1904, Benfica have signed Morocco international left-back El Karouani, 25, on loan from Al-Qadisiyah until the end of the season, with an option to buy.

He landed in Lisbon on Sunday, underwent medical tests on Monday, then on Tuesday explored the city and visited the Estádio da Luz.

Karouani said his main target is to win trophies with Benfica, stressing that at a club of this size that must be the mindset. He added that his game brings variety inside and out, plus crosses, combinations and aggression in attack and defence.

In 2025/26 he recorded career bests of 4 goals and 18 assists in 50 matches across the Eredivisie, Dutch Cup and Europa League. In the league and cup he stood out as the player with the best average of accurate crosses per game.

He joined Al-Qadisiyah earlier this summer but moved to Benfica before making an official appearance for the Saudi club. He did not adapt to the Middle East and has returned to Europe.
