Karrikaburu in Burgos to sign two-year deal | OneFootball

Jon Karrikaburu is in Burgos to undergo a medical and sign a two-year contract as he departs Real Sociedad.

According to Diario Vasco, the striker travelled on Friday and the move carries no fee, mirroring the Carlos Fernández arrangement.

He never established himself in La Real’s first team. Burgos showed the strongest interest this summer and eventually convinced him, despite talks taking longer than expected.

Karrikaburu debuted under Imanol on 30 September 2021 in a Europa League group match at Anoeta against Monaco. He has made 21 appearances over the last five years, totalling 497 minutes and scoring two goals, both in the 22/23 Copa second round against Coria.

He spent four loan spells at Leganés, Alavés, Andorra and Racing, shining most with the Cantabrian side two seasons ago. He has retained a strong reputation in the Segunda and joins a team aiming for the promotion play-offs.

At El Plantío he will reunite with Sergio Francisco, under whom he hit 22 goals in 20/21 in the Third Division. Burgos host Sanse on Monday at 19:00, so he could debut against the club where he came through.
