Kath Smith: Winning breeds winning | OneFootball

Leeds United Women will once again travel to Silsden AFC to face West Yorkshire rivals Bradford City Women, with the two sides meeting in the final Group T fixture of the FA WNL Cup.

The Whites currently sit top of the group with a perfect record, having recorded victories over Halifax Women and Huddersfield Town Women.

Simon Wood’s side also head into the cup clash off the back of another win over Bradford, having secured a 2-0 victory in the FA Women’s National League Division One North on Sunday.

Previewing the latest Yorkshire derby, midfielder Kath Smith spoke to leedsunited.com.

"It's a different opportunity in the cup. We're really excited to keep playing and keep building the momentum and we are expecting more of the same from them.

"They like to be really physical, really aggressive," Smith reflected on the previous meeting. "At times we probably didn't control the game as well as we wanted to in terms of that. We need to keep to the football and play the best that we can.

"We'll have a few different players, and that'll bring in a different way of playing for us in terms of playing to strengths, playing to weaknesses.

"It would be really good to keep a perfect record in the cup, but in the same breath, there's no pressure on that. The cup's a really good rotation this year for the squad and to keep everybody fresh and to get minutes.

"For us, the priority is the league. That's where we want to get to, and we are putting all our focus and energy on that. But obviously, winning breeds winning and that's momentum, and it's our mentality that we want to win games.

"It's a Yorkshire derby, so that adds to the kind of emphasis of the game that we don't want to lose bragging rights.

"I think the momentum will come in week after week after week if we keep doing the simple things right, and the performance have come, and hopefully we'll get the three points and win."
