Inter Milan could go back for Tottenham Hotspur full-back Djed Spence before the transfer window closes should the Premier League side’s demands change, with the Nerazzurri a side to ‘keep an eye on’.

Pedro Porro is viewed as Roberto De Zerbi’s first choice on the right flank and that has led to clubs feeling the England international may well be available for the right price.

Inter Milan emerged as potential suitors for Spence this summer, despite his sizeable price tag, after turning their attention to the Tottenham defender following Anan Khalaili’s proposed move falling through after he failed his medical.

The Nerazzurri are prepared to invest between €25m and €30m for the 26-year-old, but Tottenham remain adamant that his valuation sits considerably higher.

According to Italian journalist Daniele Mari, Spence’s potential switch to Serie A remains one to ‘keep an eye on’, with Inter Milan potentially ready to revisit the deal should Spurs soften their demands.

It is understood that official contact between the Nerazzurri and the defender’s representatives has already taken place, although personal terms have yet to be fully agreed.

Spence still has three years remaining on his Tottenham contract, but should the player push for an exit, the Lilywhites could be forced to lower their asking price to help pave the way for a move.

The defender already has experience of Serie A, having spent time on loan at Genoa from Spurs, where he made 16 league appearances and operated on both flanks, underlining the versatility that has made him an attractive option.

Liverpool were also credited with an interest in the London-born defender, although those claims were swiftly dismissed when they first surfaced.

For now, Inter appear to be the closest suitors to securing his signature, although a deal may have to wait until closer to deadline day given Tottenham’s firm valuation, which currently remains beyond the Italian giants’ reach.

Spence though could well stay at Tottenham, with De Zerbi appreciating his qualities.

Another Spurs player considered by the Nerazzurri was Cristian Romero, but any move for the Tottenham captain now looks set to face fierce competition from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid.
