Keira Barry progress so far

Barry is a graduate of the Manchester United Academy, and made her women’s first-team debut back in December 2022 versus Sheffield United.

She has played for England under-19s five times, scoring one goal.

Barry also spent the 2023-2024 season out on loan with Crystal Palace.

Sunderland move

The club’s official website have announced, “Manchester United Women forward Keira Barry has joined Sunderland on loan, until 31 December.”

The 20-year-old signed a new deal in the summer but will now play in Women’s Super League 2 with the Black Cats.

Barry was part of the Womens Sevens team that finished runners-up in Portugal in May.

She also was part of the squad that travelled to Sweden for Champions League qualifiers and came off the bench in the 4-0 win over PSV Eindhoven.

Sunderland announced on their official website that “SAFC Women is delighted to announce the signing of Keira Barry.”

Barry claimed, “I’m really excited and I can’t wait to get going. It’s really surprised me how inclusive everything is. It feels like one big team, and the facilities are really good, so I’m excited to use them.”

She also claimed that her new boss Mel Reay has told her that she wants to play attacking football and that is “exactly how I want to play.”

Coach Reay also stated, “we’re really pleased to have Keira with us on loan. She is a player who we’ve been monitoring for a while and we’re delighted to add more quality and depth to our front line.”

Barry could make her debut for the second division side against Sheffield United on Friday 5th September.
