“One of our favourites from Leicester, Kelechi Iheanacho scored. “I think he will score a lot of goals for Celtic. Brendan Rodgers knows him very well from when he managed him at Leicester. He’s a very, very good finisher Kelechi, in the Scottish league he will bag lots of goals.”

Lineker added: “He’s streaky. When he’s on it, he is a natural goalscorer, his movement, and he is a good finisher. He was one of those that was always happy, a really good attitude.”

Since joining Rodgers at Celtic, Iheanacho has already found the net twice in his first three appearances for the Scottish champions. The 28 year-old signed for the Hoops on a free transfer following the mutual termination of his Sevilla contract.

Speaking to The Celtic Star at yesterday’s media conference ahead of today’s Scottish Premiership encounter against Hibernian, Iheanacho insists he is eagerly anticipating his home debut at Celtic Park.

“Yeah, before the European game, we trained there,” Kelechi said. “It was great, but the fans weren’t there. Coming back again after a long time — it’s an amazing stadium. Hopefully, playing there tomorrow with the fans will be a great honour. I’d love it — and hopefully I’ll score more goals there.”

It is expected Iheanacho will lead the line today after his impressive second half performance in Belgrade during the week.
