Kendry Páez moved to deny he mocked River following their Copa Sudamericana elimination by Independiente Santa Fe, saying a circulating social media story did not come from his account.

According to Radiogol.com, a supposed post attributed to the Ecuadorian spread in the hours after the game and was read as a jibe at the club and his team-mates.

He clarified that the viral story never originated from his profile and made clear he would not publish anything to mock a result or a difficult moment for the team.

He addressed the matter out of respect for River, his colleagues and supporters. The midfielder is currently training at the Cantilo complex with others who have been left out of the professional squad.

The issue surfaced during a sensitive spell for River, with posts from players outside the first-team group drawing scrutiny from fans after the exit.

The Ecuadorian remains apart from the senior squad and continues to work at Cantilo while his future is decided, alongside others not in River’s immediate plans. He sought to close the controversy by underlining he had no intention of ridiculing the team or its players.
