Leonardo Ponzio to be River Plate interim head coach after Coudet exit | OneFootball

Leonardo Ponzio has been named River Plate’s interim head coach after Eduardo Coudet’s departure, and will lead the side against Banfield next Sunday in the Clausura.

President Stéfano Di Carlo confirmed the interim appointment as Coudet said his goodbyes, according to SuperDepor.com.

The club idol, one of the heroes of Madrid, steps into coaching for the first time. He will be assisted by Marcelo Escudero, currently in charge of the Reserve team.

Ponzio inherits a side off course, eliminated from Copa Argentina and Copa Sudamericana, and sitting on four points in the Clausura.

In principle, he will serve on an interim basis until the end of the season, although changes in that period are not ruled out.
