Kerolin Nicoli has spoken to the media for the first time since being officially unveiled as a Barcelona player.
The 26-year-old, whose long-awaited move to Catalunya was announced on social media on Tuesday, was presented to the media at the club’s Palau Blaugrana on Wednesday afternoon.
There, she told gathered reporters that she is “grateful for the offer they made to have me here,” with the fee paid expected to exceed €1.2m [£1m] plus performance-based add-ons.
“I think I had a really good season at [Manchester] City so I’m grateful to Barcelona for paying City to have me here. On the pitch, I’m going to show what they did for me.
“I’m a very attacking player. I’m always going to go forward to score goals or put my teammates in front of goal.”
And while the Brazilian reaffirmed that she still has a desire to become the best player in the world, “there’s a lot to do still.
“It’s also not in my control,” she explained, adding that she is going to “do my best” at Barça.
“Of course when I come to Barcelona, I know I’m going to improve myself as a player and as a person because I know the team is very good. I know I’m going to be challenged a lot.”
Her move to Catalunya means a reunion with Vicky López, who she played alongside at Madrid CFF, but the 26-year-old also expressed her excitement to meet the rest of the squad.
“Right now I think it’s hard to say [who I’m looking forward to playing with the most],” she told reporters, “because I think these things need to happen naturally and see what the vibes are.
“I’m really excited to see Kika [Nazareth] because she looks like a very funny person and I like that type of vibe next to me.”
Kerolin could make her Barcelona debut against her former club when the blaugrana travel to England to face Manchester City in a pre-season friendly on Saturday 15 August.
She won the Barclays Women’s Super League and Adobe Women’s FA Cup with the Cityzens in 2025/26.
