Keven Schlotterbeck set to join Southampton | OneFootball

Keven Schlotterbeck is close to a move to English Championship side Southampton, according to Sky Germany. The report states that the 29-year-old center back is undergoing a medical to seal the move worth €4.5m including add-ons.

Schlotterbeck spent the last two seasons at Augsburg, where he was captain. He has made a total of 152 Bundesliga appearances and has scored 10 goals.

Last season, Southampton were close to gaining promotion to the Premier League but were expelled from the playoffs after admitting to a “Spygate” scandal involving the unauthorised filming and observation of rival clubs’ training sessions ahead of their game against Middlesbrough.

Southampton now look to strengthen themselves as they eye a return to the English top flight. BBC has reported that Schlotterbeck has been targeted as a direct replacement for Taylor Harwood-Bellis. The 24-year-old centre-back has been linked with a move away from the Saints and has missed his club’s recent games.
