Tottenham Hotspur defender Kevin Danso’s agent are reportedly meeting with Aston Villa today over a move.
The club recently rejected Sunderland’s loan enquiry for the Austria international but he is open to leaving Spurs before next Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
Danso made 35 appearances for the Lilywhites last term, but started just 17 times in the Premier League.
The 27-year-old wants regular playing opportunities and Villa appear to be willing to offer him regular football.
They missed out on a deal for Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez, and have been linked with West Ham United’s Jean-Clair Todibo.
Villa manager Unai Emery is desperate to replace Ezri Konsa and Danso has emerged as a target.
He was on the bench against Brentford as Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi played Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke in central defence.
Micky van de Ven is also ahead of the Villa target in the pecking order and Danso could struggle for game time this season.
Spurs want to hold on to him, but the Austrian is likely to push for an exit.
He started the League Cup game against Charlton Athletic on the bench and is unlikely to be involved against Newcastle United today.
Senegalese midfielder Pape Matar Sarr and Brazilian attacker Richarlison are likely to leave the club before the transfer deadline.
Danso could join them and De Zerbi has some crucial decisions to make in the coming days.
