Speaking in an interview with DAZN, former Barcelona forward Kevin-Prince Boateng admitted it was a shock when he first saw club captain Lionel Messi train.
The Ghanaian arrived at Barcelona in the winter window of the 2018-19 season in a bid to reinforce the club’s forward line. Boateng only played four games with the Barça first team and failed to score a single goal.
“Training with Messi left me speechless. I had always said that Cristiano Ronaldo was the best in the world, but Messi is something else, he’s not normal. I trained with him and he did certain things and it was just incredible. I felt then from watching him in training that I was a bad player and I said ‘I give up, I need to stop playing‘”.
