Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has taken his first steps back onto the training pitch since suffering an injury with the Dutch national team, according to SPORT.
The 28-year-old has been dealing with discomfort in the external obturator muscle of his right leg.
Although he trained separately from the main squad, early reports suggest the issue is not serious.
De Jong joined the session about 20 minutes later than his teammates, with the club’s permission, and focused on light exercises under close supervision from Barcelona’s physical trainers.
The Dutchman did not complete the full training programme, but his presence on the pitch is a positive sign for both the player and the club.
Manager Hansi Flick is eager to have him back, but the club insists that his return will be handled carefully to avoid any setbacks.

“No risks will be taken and his return will be treated with total caution,” sources close to the club confirmed.
The club is working to gradually reduce the number of injured players in the squad.
As reported before, De Jong is particularly keen to return to action and is targeting full fitness ahead of Barcelona’s opening Champions League match against Newcastle United on 18 September.
His early return to training gives hope that he could feature against the Premier League side, adding creativity and stability to Barcelona’s midfield.
Barcelona’s medical and coaching staff are carefully monitoring his progress, ensuring that de Jong’s recovery is steady and safe.
While the midfielder will remain out for now, his gentle return to training marks an important milestone in his recovery.
Barcelona aim to have the club captain fully ready in the coming weeks, strengthening their squad for both La Liga and Champions League challenges.
