Manchester City finished fourth in the WSL last season – their worst finish in the league since 2023.

Gareth Taylor was sacked by City at the end of the season after four years at the club as as a result of a disappointing campaign.

It didn’t take long for the Cityzens to find a new manager, with Jeglertz appointed ahead of the new season.

Jeglertz managed the Denmark national team for two years but decided to depart the job after Euro 2025.

Under new management, City are sure to be one of the favourites with betting websites to challenge Chelsea for the WSL this season.

Khadija Shaw aiming high for Manchester City

City superstar Khadija Shaw has high hopes for the club this season under new management after a poor finish to 2024/25.

“We’ve got to start somewhere,” the striker said. “We’ve got to be realistic. It’s a new coach, it’s a new style of play, a lot of things have changed.

“But that’s on one side. The other side, with all that being said, we’ve got to win. Winning a trophy, particularly the league, would be our biggest target, for sure.”

Shaw took over the number nine shirt for City this season as her legacy at the club continues.

The Jamaican forward is one of the biggest legends at City already despite only spending four years at the club.

Although she only played 14 WSL games last year due to an injury, Shaw still shared the golden boot with Alessia Russo on 12 goals.

In 2023/24 Shaw won her first golden boot with 18 goals in 21 appearances. With 91 goals for City Shaw is the club’s all-time top scorer.

City kick off their 2025/26 campaign against Chelsea which is set to be televised on Sky Sports Main Event.
