Valencia CF restarted work on the Nou Mestalla in January on an approximate 30 month schedule, with the intention of opening for the 27/28 season. Progress is ongoing, and president Kiat Lim has been keen to underline it online.

According to Superdeporte, construction began 20 years ago before being halted in 2009. Meriton’s arrival in 2014, an unfulfilled pledge to resume, municipal negotiations and repeated plan changes all pushed any restart back.

Lim, Valencia CF’s president from afar for more than a year and a board member since 2022, is an avid social media user. He tends to post after victories or when developments favour his position.

In one recent Instagram story he highlighted his role, contrasting a December 2025 image of the stadium’s skeleton with an updated June 2026 shot. The project is central to his tenure, and he usually visits the site when in the city.

His most recent brief visit to Valencia came in March, when he spent a little over one hour touring the works. He was accompanied by general director Javier Solís and the stadium’s chief operating officer, Christian Schneider.
