Kiat Lim urges Valencia to keep climbing after stoppage time Copa del Rey exit | OneFootball

Valencia were knocked out of the Copa del Rey at Mestalla, losing 1-2 to Athletic Club in stoppage time.

The tie looked set for extra time until the Williams brothers combined. Nico started the move and Iñaki finished to make it 1-2. Valencia president Kiat Lim said in a post: “What are you afraid of? Death? Guaranteed. Shame? Forgotten in a week. Lost everything? Rebuild. There is nothing to fear. Keep climbing”.

Corberán called the defeat a blow, Pepelu offered self-criticism, and some supporters waited at the stadium exits to vent their anger as the players boarded the team bus.

Lim has not attended a match at Mestalla and has visited Valencia only occasionally, to check on the Nou Mestalla works and to attend the General Shareholders' Meeting.

Among supporters the mood is of disappointment and dwindling hope, with another demanding campaign in prospect as the team continue to fight for safety and the Cup dream has gone.
