A dramatic final day across steps three and four ended with Kidderminster, Hednesford and Halesowen bound for the play-offs, while Sporting Khalsa were relegated. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the key twists came late across the region.

Kelvin Davis’ Hednesford began level on points with Hebburn but with a poorer goal difference. Hebburn struck after half an hour and again just after the break to beat Rushall Olympic 2-0, leaving the Pitmen’s 3-3 home draw with Ashton United short of the title.

At a sold-out Keys Park, Montel Gibson put Hednesford ahead before Ashton led 3-1 by half-time. Joe Doyle-Charles pulled one back with 18 minutes left and George Williams levelled in stoppage time, but more than 4,000 saw the crown head north east.

Hednesford host Stockton Town in a one-legged semi-final on Tuesday at 7.45pm, with a potential final against FC United of Manchester if they progress.

Kidderminster, already assured of third in National League North, closed with a 1-0 win over second-placed South Shields through Ryley Reynolds. They could meet Shields in the final after next weekend’s semi.

Halesowen surged into the Southern Central Premier play-offs by thrashing bottom side AFC Sudbury 5-0. Fin Holmes opened the scoring, Jordan Ponticelli struck twice, top scorer Jason Cowley netted his 31st league goal and Jak Hickman completed the rout, as they leapfrogged Needham Market after a home defeat to Banbury. The Yeltz visit runners-up Spalding United on Wednesday.

Sporting Khalsa led at Witton Albion through Andre Landell, but a late penalty and Harry Woods’ stoppage-time break condemned a 2-1 loss. Congleton Town’s 4-0 win saw them survive, ending Khalsa’s five-season stay at step four.
