Bordeaux have responded after the CNOSF advised upholding the DNCG’s decision to exclude the club from France’s national leagues.
The club said in a statement that this was a recommendation, with the final decision now in the hands of the French Football Federation’s Executive Committee. It added that it was surprised given the significant financial guarantees provided by new investors to secure the coming season and beyond, and warned that if the federation follows the advice the club would face liquidation despite those guarantees.
On 31 July, Gérard Lopez transferred his shares to Sparta Capital for one symbolic euro, and waived his claims and any right to future recovery. Even so, the advisory was not favourable, despite Sparta Capital supplying €10.6m to fund 2026-27, clear arrears from last season and meet payments under the continuation plan.
As it stands, Bordeaux are listed in Group B of Régional 1 in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine league. Their opener is set for Saturday 29 August at Saint-Médard-en-Jalles.
In May, 26,000 supporters attended at Stade Atlantique, a record for a National 1 or National 2 match in France. Bordeaux are six-time champions of France.
