Wolves summer signing Kieran Trippier has posted an update on social media
After such a positive start to the summer transfer window for Wolves, the news that the Molineux club had sacked Rob Edwards last week came as a major surprise.
Despite being in place for the majority of what turned out to be a disastrous season for Wanderers last term, as they finished bottom of the Premier League, it looked as though Edwards would be given the time and tools to lead the club's rebuild.
He was thought to have played a major role in the signings of Kieran Trippier and Raúl Jiménez on free transfers and even been part of recruitment meetings. However, the decision to dismiss the former Middlesbrough and Luton Town boss and subsequently replace him with Portuguese Cesar Peixoto was made.
It has been reported that the now ex-Wolves manager was informed of the decision over the phone while on holiday with the news coming as a major surprise to everyone at the football club.
On the back of the shock news that Edwards had been sacked, widespread reports emerged that new signing Trippier was already considering his future at the club, given that the former Wolves manager had played a key role in convincing him to sign for the West Midlands outfit ahead of other potential suitors.
The right-back's contract at Newcastle United doesn't expire until 30 June, meaning that he only penned a pre-contract agreement with Wolves and could have therefore opted to tear up the terms that will start on 1 July.
Trippier has now released photographs of him training in Majorca with 292 Performance on his Instagram story as he prepares for the new season. However, it is still yet to be seen whether the former England star decides to stick or twist.

Wolves have been a model example for how not to run a football club in recent years, but if Trippier was to cancel his contract with Wanderers, it would arguably be the most embarrassing moment of the lot.
The right-back's profile picture on Instagram is currently of him in a Wolves kit, taken as part of the club's media release announcing his signing. Wolves also produced an announcement video and released an extensive first sit-down interview with the 35-year-old.
After releasing all of the promotional material for Trippier's signing, it would be a terrible look for Wolves to now see a new player rip up his contract before pre-season has even gotten underway.
Being a former England international and a defender with 225 Premier League appearances to his name, alongside a spell at Atletico Madrid which saw him play a role in a La Liga-winning squad, the experience Trippier brings to a team looking for promotion out of the Championship is invaluable.
After such a gloomy season last term, the capture of such a big name would have been a boost for supporters and the start of the club's bid to get them back onside ahead of a big campaign.
Trippier had a number of options other than Wolves following the announcement that he would be leaving Newcastle, and it would be an absolute disaster for the Championship side if the right-back opts to tear up his contract.
