Malick Thiaw and FC Bayern – this topic is once again a topic of conversation. The central defender was already linked with the Munich club last summer. Now the DFB star is back in the spotlight.
The 24-year-old is currently under contract with Newcastle United, but there could be movement in the summer of 2026. As reported by Sports Boom, both FC Bayern and Manchester United are planning a move for the German international. Liverpool FC are also said to be looking at a possible signing.
Thiaw only moved from AC Milan to Newcastle in the summer of 2025 for around £35 million and still has a contract there until 2029. According to Sports Boom, a return to Germany is an attractive option for the defender. However, according to the report, those responsible at Manchester United in particular see him as a potential cornerstone for the planned restructuring of the defense.

Thiaw has established himself in the Premier League. In the current 2025/26 season, the 1.94-metre defender has made 24 appearances in the league, started 20 times and scored four goals. His current market value is estimated at 40 million euros, and he also has the experience of playing five international matches for Germany.
FC Bayern’s central defence is currently well-stocked. With Dayot Upamecano, Jonathan Tah, Minjae Kim and Hiroki Ito, the record champions have several options in the center. Nevertheless, Thiaw’s name is still being bandied about after there was already loose speculation last summer about a possible move to Säbener Straße. The topic of Thiaw could become hot again, especially if Kim were to leave the record champions.
