Corinthians have never won a match refereed by Rafael Rodrigo Klein, a stark statistic that has lifted Vasco da Gama before the opening 90 minutes of the Copa do Brasil final.
According to PaponaColina, the CBF has appointed the FIFA-listed Gaúcho to take charge of Wednesday’s meeting at Neo Química Arena, after naming officials on Monday.
Under Klein, the Parque São Jorge club have five defeats and two draws. Their disciplinary return is also poor, with two players sent off, 26 yellow cards and one penalty awarded against them.
Klein, noted for his consistency with 22 appearances in last season’s Brasileirão, will be assisted by Guilherme Dias Camilo of Minas Gerais and Rafael da Silva Alves of Rio Grande do Sul, both carrying FIFA badges.
VAR will be led by Daniel Nobre Bins of Rio Grande do Sul, who has operated the system in 26 Série A matches.
With the officiating team confirmed and the numbers pointing Vasco’s way, the Rio side prepare to try to end Corinthians’ home unbeaten run.
