Ole Werner could be dismissed after one season at RB Leipzig despite steering the club to third and Champions League qualification.

Sky reports that not all decision-makers were convinced by the former Werder Bremen coach. Sporting director Marcel Schäfer and his group want to extend his deal beyond 2027, while the global Red Bull Soccer team led by Jürgen Klopp are dissatisfied and are believed to be pushing for an immediate separation.

Excluding players away with their countries for the World Cup, Leipzig are in South Africa to face African champions Mamelodi Sundowns in a friendly tomorrow.

Had they beaten Freiburg on the final matchday, Werner’s side would have set new club records for points and wins in a Bundesliga campaign.
