Jurgen Klopp is ready to take charge of the Germany national team, following Julian Nagelsmann's exit.
Nagelsmann has stepped down from his position as head coach with immediate effect, following Germany's shock exit to Paraguay at the 2026World Cup.
The 38-year-old had expressed his desire to remain in charge in the aftermath of that loss, but has now left his role after talks with the German Football Association.
Klopp has emerged as the clear frontrunner for the role. The formerLiverpool manager is currently head of global soccer for Red Bull Group, but is ready to leave that position should Germany make a formal approach.
According toSky Sports, Klopp is 'ready' to a return to management and his current contract includes 'a special exit clause' for the Germany job.
Speaking to MagentaTV after Germany's Round of 32 defeat to Paraguay on penalties, Klopp admitted that he was aware his name would be circled with the role.
"I haven't thought about that yet. I understand that my name is being mentioned now. But it's not the time to talk about that."
Klopp has been out of football management since leaving Liverpool in 2024. The 59-year-old spent nine-and-a-half seasons at Anfield, where he won eight trophies.
His honours included the 2019 Champions League and 2019/20 Premier League title, the latter the club's first top-flight league title in three decades. Klopp previously had spells at Borussia Dortmund and Mainz, winning twoBundesliga titles with the former.
