Rebecca Knaak says she’s proud of City’s perseverance in our dramatic 1-0 victory over Liverpool in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

The Germany international scored a euphoric 91st-minute winner against the Reds which helped Andrée Jeglertz’s side edge closer to the top-flight title with one league match remaining this season.

After the visitors enjoyed the better of the first half at the Joie Stadium, which saw Grace Fisk hit the bar, the Blues emerged from the interval with fresh energy and renewed attacking impetus.

But the goal we craved in our relentless pursuit of the championship looked likely to evade us in an entertaining clash with Gareth Taylor’s team.

That was until Knaak produced a memorable diving header to send the ball squirming into the bottom corner deep into stoppage time – and with it our 11th home WSL success of 2025/26.

It means City are within two points of winning the WSL this term ahead our trip to West Ham on the final day of the campaign.

And the Blues’ centre-back says the belief in our game plan paid dividends against Liverpool in the precious success.

“As you can tell, it’s all the emotions. We deserved it so much today. We worked so hard,” Knaak said.

“It wasn’t an easy game at all but at this time of the year, to win this game, I’m very proud of the team.

“It was tough, but we knew if we continued with our game plan and continued to play that we’re good enough to score. It paid off in the end, very late.

“We just had to keep going.”
