According to Voetbal International, Orkun Kökcü and Fredrik Aursnes had a part to play in Casper Tengstedt’s move to Feyenoord.
Feyenoord confirmed Tengstedt’s arrival on Thursday. “I’m happy to be here,” the 25-year-old Dane began in an interview with Feyenoord ONE. He explained that he received advice from both Kökcü and Aursnes, his former Benfica teammates. “They both enjoyed being here and were very positive about the club. They recommended I come here.”
With this move, Tengstedt has followed the path of two well-received compatriots, Jon Dahl Tomasson and Nicolai Jørgensen. The two strikers played in the Champions League with the club, and Tengstedt wants to do the same.
“That’s the biggest tournament you can play in. But we also have to earn it, and I want to be part of that. It’s a tough opponent (Fenerbahçe), but Feyenoord is good too. We can definitely do it.”
Tengstedt spoke more about his style of play and where he might fit in Robin van Persie’s plans.
“I want to be part of a team that has the ball and creates chances. I love to make my mark on the game. I want to score goals, connect with my teammates, and win. I’m good with the ball, and I’m a good finisher. Hopefully, I can show that to the supporters, and we’ll win a lot of trophies. I want to win everything I can.”
The new boy will, of course, turn out at De Kuip, the stadium where he played a friendly for Benfica two seasons ago. “That was already fantastic. I want the fans behind me now and for us to celebrate successes together. I’m looking forward to seeing the supporters and playing the first match.”
