Fredrik Aursnes makes himself available for Norway again

Fredrik Aursnes has reversed his earlier stance and made himself available for Norway again, having stepped back to prioritise Benfica.
The Norwegian Football Federation announced the decision on social media, welcoming his return to the national set-up.
Head coach Stale Solbakken welcomed the move and the squad are pleased with the news. He has also been vocal over Andreas Schjelderup’s use at Benfica.
After a break since 2024, Aursnes is back in contention for future call-ups. He has 20 caps and one goal.
At the World Cup, Norway are in Group L with France, Senegal and a third team still to be decided via an intercontinental play-off.
This season for Benfica, Aursnes, valued at 17 million euros, has played 39 competitive matches, 20 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 12 in the Champions League, four in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 3,330 minutes he has four goals and seven assists.
