Kompany gives a positive assessment following Bayern’s training camp | OneFootball

FC Bayern wrapped up its training camp at Lake Tegernsee with a commanding 15-0 victory over FC Rottach-Egern. Coach Vincent Kompany expressed complete satisfaction following the intense training sessions and is optimistic about the next steps in preseason preparations.

For four days, the record champions worked on the fundamentals for the new season at Lake Tegernsee. Although Kompany was still without numerous players returning from the World Cup, the Belgian drew a thoroughly positive conclusion after the final friendly match.

In an interview with FCB.TV, the 40-year-old particularly praised the conditions on site and his team’s commitment.

Kompany: “It’s always great to come here.”

“I’m very satisfied with the training camp. The conditions here are great. It’s a tradition—we’re at home here. It’s always great to come here,” Kompany explained.

For the Bayern coach, however, the training camp marks only the first stage of preseason preparation. As early as Saturday, the team will travel to South Korea and Hong Kong for the Audi Summer Tour, where additional friendly matches and training sessions are on the schedule.

“Now we’re heading to Asia, where we’ll try to further raise our level during this preseason,” the Belgian announced.

The focus is on further development

Although numerous key players—including Harry Kane, Michael Olise, Dayot Upamecano, Ismael Saibari, and other World Cup participants—are still missing, Kompany believes his team is on the right track.

“We still have a lot of players who aren’t here, but the guys who are here are doing a great job,” said the Bayern coach.

Looking ahead to the coming weeks, the focus remains clearly on athletic development. “We’re solely focused on soccer and on how we can raise our level during preseason. Of course, we don’t have all the guys here yet. But the ones we do have are all in great spirits, which is important—because at some point, everything has to come together.”

The Bayern coach’s comments make it clear that results during preseason are currently of secondary importance to him. It’s much more important to internalize the processes and prepare the team step by step for the start of the season.

With a successful training camp behind them, FC Bayern is now heading to Asia with a positive outlook. There, Kompany will gradually reintegrate the national team players who have been absent so far into training, before the record champions kick off the new competitive season with the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup at the end of August.
