The news came out of nowhere on Tuesday: FC Bayern had prematurely extended the contract with head coach Vincent Kompany until 2029. While fans and media were still astonished, the club caused new speculation just one day later with a mysterious social media post.
As reported by Sport BILD, the talks between the Belgian and the Bayern bosses lasted just one week before both sides agreed on a new four-year contract. Kompany himself is said to have insisted on a quick deal – without the usual media drumbeat that has become a tradition in Munich when it comes to major personnel decisions.
The 39-year-old enjoys the highest level of trust after his dream start as Bayern coach. With his clear ideas for the game, his calm manner and his tactical stringency, he has stabilised the team and led them back on the road to success. The club has now honoured this development with a long-term contract – sending a strong signal of continuity and trust.

As soon as the ink was dry on Kompany’s contract, FC Bayern itself triggered the next wave of speculation. On Wednesday, the Munich club posted a photo of Michael Olise on the X platform (formerly Twitter) in which the French attacking player demonstratively holds the Bayern logo up to the camera – complete with a cold-face emoji.
The post immediately made waves: „Has Olise already extended his contract?“ asked one user. Another commented: „That looks like a contract extension.“ The tenor of the comments was clear – many fans sensed Bayern’s next big coup.
The speculation is not completely unfounded. According to consistent media reports, those responsible at Säbener Straße are indeed considering an early contract extension with Michael Olise.
The 23-year-old, who moved to Munich from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024, is already under contract with FC Bayern until 2029. According to sporting director Max Eberl, Olise does not have an exit clause – but the record champions still want to make a statement early on.
Olise is one of the shooting stars in European football and has long since attracted the interest of top international clubs. In order to set the course for the long term, Bayern are planning to approach the player by spring 2026 at the latest, according to Sport BILD. Internally, however, it is by no means ruled out that talks will begin earlier – especially after the quiet but strategically clever approach with Kompany.
