Kompany speaks highly of Can Uzun ahead of Bayern's clash with Frankfurt | OneFootball

It’s hardly surprising to see Harry Kane at the top of the Bundesliga scoring charts, but few would have expected Eintracht Frankfurt’s Can Uzun to sit second after five games.

Uzun has scored a goal in each of his five Bundesliga appearances this season, and Bayern coach Vincent Kompany is well aware of the threat he poses ahead of Saturday’s Bundesliga clash with Frankfurt.

“We’ve obviously lost a lot of top players in the Bundesliga, but that’s not always a negative. It creates space for a new generation of top players,” Kompany said at his pre-match press conference on Friday.

“Uzun has a lot of ability between the lines, can play the decisive pass, but also poses a direct threat to goal himself. He can shoot from distance, and he’s clever at getting into the right positions to take the ball with one touch. He’s another young player at Frankfurt who will do very well in the future.

“We always play against good players. It’s exciting for us and makes us better. When the other team is having a good spell, we need to respond and perform even better.”

Saturday’s Bundesliga clash between Frankfurt and Bayern kicks off at 18:30 CET.
