Koopmeiners strikes on the stroke of half-time as visitors go top

AZ beat Utrecht 4-1 at Stadion Galgenwaard to rise from third to first in the Eredivisie.

Peer Koopmeiners broke the deadlock in the first minute of first half stoppage time, sweeping in after a corner. Weslley Patati doubled the lead (47.), and Mexx Meerdink tapped in a third (49.).

Artem Stepanov's close-range header gave Utrecht hope (62.), but substitute Ayoub Oufkir finished off a fast break (84.) to seal the points.

Mateo Chávez supplied two assists for Meerdink and Oufkir, while Kees Smit set up Patati. Chávez now leads the Eredivisie assist chart on two.

Vasilis Barkas made five saves for Utrecht. The visitors racked up 24 attempts with nine on target. Utrecht mustered eight attempts and three corners.
