Kosta Nedeljkovic Rangers exit story confirmed false

We’re not a big fan of many Rangers ‘clickbait’ sites, ones who just use our name for traffic. They’re rarely-to-never run by Rangers fans. However, one we’ve notably been critical of, Rangers News, ever since they went under new management, did get one ‘exclusive’ correct recently about the Kosta Nedeljkovic Rangers exit story.

We don’t know if it was their story or not, but they did identify a false story about Kosta Nedeljkovic and correctly clarified a mistake that we at Ibrox Noise also made.

Kosta Nedeljkovic exit

The simple version was that a Serbian article claimed ‘foreign clubs wanted Kosta’ and that the RB was a target for a January move.

At least, that’s how the Scottish papers reported the story anyway.

In reality it was actually a bit different.

The offending passage was part of his 6/10 rating by Serbian sports paper Mondo:

“Nema minutaže za njega ni u Rendžersu, pa se Kosta i dalje traži po inostranim klubovima.”

This literally translates as:

“There is no playing time for him even in Rangers, so Costa is still wanted by foreign clubs.”

At least, it is when it’s done by Google. But Google doesn’t add linguistic context or localised translation.

Truth of Rangers exit story

When explored more deeply, this passage, in Serbian dialect, actually means:

“He isn’t getting regular minutes at Rangers either, meaning Kosta is still yet to truly find his feet and establish himself at a club abroad.”

In other words, Kosta isn’t doing much better at Rangers than he did at Villa or Leipzig, meaning he continues to struggle outside of Serbia.

The boy has just 31 (13 starts) appearances in football since leaving his homeland and clearly as yet isn’t quite ‘there’ yet.

He is not going to be displacing Dujon Sterling but for injury or loss of form on the part of the ex-Chelsea man.

But factually, as of right now, the story from Serbian media that clubs are looking at him is based on a case of lost in translation. And that the Kosta Nedeljkovic Rangers exit report isn’t true. Yet, anyway.
