Lorient beat Nantes 2-1 at Stade du Moustoir on Saturday to stretch their Ligue 1 unbeaten run to nine matches, leaving the visitors in the relegation play-off place.
In the 32nd minute, Bamba Dieng swept in from Theo Le Bris' pass to give the hosts the lead.
Les Canaris levelled through Matthis Abline after substitute Mohamed Kaba picked him out (74.).
Arsène Kouassi won it with a brilliant left-foot free-kick into the top left corner (89.).
Kelvin Amian then thought he had equalised, but his finish was ruled out after a VAR review in the third minute of second half stoppage time.
Lorient were clinical, hitting four shots on target from five attempts and controlling 57% possession. Les Canaris produced two efforts on target from 10 attempts.
Next, Lorient host Paris FC in the Coupe de France. Les Canaris face Lyon next in Ligue 1.
