As the summer transfer window approaches its final phases, FC Barcelona are engaged in several transfer operations. Some of these are high-profile inbound transfers, like that of Rodri Hernandez and Julian Alvarez, while some others are for the departures of some of their current players, like Marc Casado, Hector Fort, and Jofre Torrents.
Meanwhile, another player who has remained an important part of Hansi Flick’s plans since the German coach’s arrival on the Blaugrana bench, Jules Kounde, has also been linked with several clubs across Europe, raising doubts about his future at the club.
Big European sides like Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, and Tottenham have been linked with him, even though he has not yet had any firm offer on the table.
In such a context, MARCA claims that the defender has remained unfazed by any of these offers, as his desire to stay at Barcelona remains the same as it was one year ago, when he renewed his contract till 2030.
Although he himself has denied it, there were reports of the Frenchman’s agent, Jonathan Kebe, being at the Ciutat Esportiva to meet with Deco. MARCA’s report highlights that he has consistently let the club know that Kounde has no plans of leaving, while the defender himself has also publicly stated his intentions of continuing with the Catalan club in recent past.
Deco and Flick are still not ruling out anything for the rest of the transfer window regarding the French defender, but they would only consider his departure if an extraordinary concrete offer comes. For now, Tottenham have been reported to be ready to pay €65 million for him.
Meanwhile, Jules Kounde is on the verge of making history with Barcelona, as, with his 188 appearances so far, he is only five appearances away from Eric Abidal to become the Frenchman with the highest number of games played with the Catalan team, and it remains to be seen whether he will stay at the Blaugrana club this summer to reach this record.
