Kownacki’s Bremen departure reportedly imminent | OneFootball

After loan spells with Fortuna Düsseldorf and Hertha BSC, Dawid Kownacki (29) could now be set to leave Werder Bremen on a permanent basis. Polish journalist Mateusz Borek reports that the striker is very close to joining Ekstraklasa side Pogoń Szczecin.

Negotiations over the exact terms of Kownacki’s departure from Bremen are reportedly still ongoing. The 29-year-old is expected to sign a two-year contract with the Polish club, with an option to extend the deal for a further season. The Ekstraklasa transfer window remains open until September 9.

It is currently unclear whether Pogoń will have to pay a transfer fee for Kownacki. Recent reports have suggested that Werder would be willing to let the striker leave for free in order to remove his salary from their wage bill. His contract with the Bundesliga club is due to expire next summer.

Kownacki spent last season on loan at Hertha, scoring five goals and providing two assists in the 2. Bundesliga.
