Denmark exited the Nations League despite the defender’s header against Portugal, but Koch, Batshuayi and Uzun were all involved in wins.

Rasmus Kristensen and Denmark were subjected to a rollercoaster ride at the Estadio José Alvalade in Lisbon on Sunday evening, but there was no happy ending for the Eintracht defender and his team-mates despite their 1-0 lead over Portugal from the first leg of their Nations League quarter-final. The home side took the lead in the first half but Kristensen restored the visitors’ aggregate advantage with a header from Christian Eriksen’s cross – his first senior international goal on his 26th appearance. The game ended 3-2 after 90 minutes, but Portugal retained the upper hand in extra time to secure a 5-2 win on the night and a 5-3 victory overall.

Semi-final spot secured

Robin Koch watched from the sidelines as Germany played out a six-goal thriller with Italy in Dortmund in their quarter-final second leg. The 3-3 draw, coupled with Thursday’s 2-1 first-leg win in Milan, secured Die Mannschaft’s place in the final four of the competition. Julian Nagelsmann’s side will face Portugal in the semi-finals in June, with Spain taking on France in the other last-four tie.

Can Uzun and Michy Batshuayi also ended up on the winning side in the Nations League play-offs as Turkey clinched a 3-0 second-leg victory in Hungary and Belgium beat Ukraine by the same scoreline on home soil.

After losing to Austria in their European Under-19 Championship elite round opener, Hungary’s U19 side were beaten 1-0 by Denmark in their second game on Sunday. Eintracht youngster Noah Fenyö played the full 90 minutes.
