Eintracht Frankfurt sporting board member Markus Krösche says interim coaches Dennis Schmitt and Alexander Meier will stay in charge for the weekend.

He spoke after a 0-2 Champions League defeat to Tottenham on Wednesday, noting that the current staff would be on the bench against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.

According to BuLi News, reports have suggested Eintracht are close to hiring Albert Riera, the NK Celje coach, as successor to Dino Toppmöller, who was sacked earlier this month.

Krösche did not confirm those claims, saying they are in very good talks and will only communicate once there is concrete news.

The interim set-up will oversee Saturday’s match while the club continues its search for a permanent head coach.
