According to L'Équipe, Kylian Mbappé and Aurélien Tchouaméni will be available for France's World Cup semi-final in Dallas on Tuesday against Spain or Belgium.
Mbappé briefly alarmed France when he went down with 20 minutes left in the 2-0 quarter-final win over Morocco on Thursday, ice applied to the top of his right foot. He soon calmed fears by celebrating, and the camp indicated it was only a knock.
Mindful of a right ankle injury sustained in the 2020 Coupe de France final against Saint-Étienne, he remains cautious. The squad rested on Friday and his workload could be adjusted if pain returns when training resumes on Saturday. Barring a setback, he will feature on Tuesday.
Didier Deschamps should also have Tchouaméni back. The midfielder suffered an adductor issue on the eve of the 1-0 last-16 win over Paraguay and missed the quarter-final, but five days of recovery before the semi-final should allow him to rejoin the group.
If fully fit, the Real Madrid player is expected to start ahead of Manu Koné, who, despite strong displays, remains behind France’s vice-captain in the pecking order.
France will return to base on Saturday, then fly to Dallas on Sunday afternoon. Media duties from Monday morning rule out a four-hour flight that day, and the delegation will pass back through Boston after the game.
Popularity is rising in the United States, with nearly a hundred fans outside the hotel on Friday chanting Mbappé’s name.
