With two goals in France’s 3-1 victory against Senegal at the FIFA World Cup, Kylian Mbappé (27) has broken Olivier Giroud’s (39) record as the country’s all-time leading goalscorer. The Real Madrid forward is now his nation’s leading record goalscorer with 58 goals in 84 international appearances.

The French captain thought he would have had the opportunity to equal the record earlier after he believed he should have been awarded a penalty. Nevertheless, the 27-year-old was able to put that disappointment behind him to open the scoring following a superb pass from Michael Olise. He doubled
