Kylian Mbappe has ended his near two-decade partnership with Nike and signed a landmark deal with Swiss brand On Holding, fronting its move into professional football.

"From the beginning, what drew me to On was the opportunity to build something entirely new together that will help shape tomorrow's game," Mbappe stated in an official announcement.

"I want to bring my experience and perspective into what we create, push what's possible through innovation, and always stay true to the joy of football. We have a shared dream, and this is only the beginning."

The Real Madrid forward had been with Nike since he was eight, rising to become a leading ambassador alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Vinicius Jr, and the face of the Mercurial boot line.

His Nike contract expired on July 31, with uncertainty lingering as he still appeared in promotions and brand channels referenced him, before his switch was confirmed.

On built its reputation in running and is broadening its reach, with Swiss tennis great Roger Federer joining as an investor and strategic partner in November 2019, a path he took after leaving Nike.

The move closes a defining chapter in football marketing and gives Mbappe a direct role in shaping On's forthcoming football collection, as the company targets rivals Nike, Adidas and Puma.
