Kylian Mbappé’s (25) trip to Sweden has raised a few eyebrows. Corse-Matin have now revealed that, before returning to Spain, he stopped off at the French island of Corsica.

Mbappé wasn’t included in the current France squad by Didier Deschamps, despite starting Real Madrid’s final game before the international break, against Villarreal. Deschamps, as well as FFF president Philippe Diallo, have reaffirmed that the decision not to pick Les Bleus’ captain was taken as a cautionary measure and in collaboration with the player himself. Mbappé only recovered from a thigh injury just before the international break.

However, his absence was controversial, even before a trip to Stockholm, which coincided with France’s UEFA Nations League fixture against Israel on Thursday. During his time in the Swedish capital, he went to a restaurant and then a nightclub, as per local media. However, before making his way back to Madrid to continue his preparation for the return of club football, he stopped off in Corsica, according to Corse-Matin.

During his time on the French island, he dined at a restaurant in Bastelicaccia. In order to avoid being seen, he came in through the kitchen, was seated in an isolated corner, and then left after all of the other clients. He then spent the night in Ajaccio before getting his jet back to the Spanish capital.
