Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has revealed his take that the race for this summer’s World Cup Golden Boot should not yet be considered as over.

This comes fresh off the 27-year-old establishing himself as the clear frontrunner for the prize.

Mbappé was of course back in action on Saturday night, featuring from the off as France locked horns with England in a 3rd-place playoff in Miami.

When all was said and done, Les Bleus were condemned to the wrong side of a bizarre 6-4 result, following a chaotic 90 minutes. On a personal level, though, the evening nevertheless proved a historic one for France’s star goalscorer.

After finding the net twice more, Mbappé took his tally at this summer’s World Cup to 10. Not only that, but the former PSG standout has now racked up 22 goals all told on international football’s grandest stage.

Owing to his latest brace, Mbappé has therefore overtaken Lionel Messi as both the leading goalscorer of the current tournament, and in the all-time World Cup standings.

Speaking to the media post-match, though, the prolific frontman was quick to reveal his take that Messi will have something to say about as much before the full-time whistle sounds in Sunday’s final between Argentina and Spain:

“Leo Messi will also score tomorrow! He always delivers.”
